About
the author:

Oh jeez…do you know how many people I told I didn’t
want to write this? So here is the one my friend made me:
BeccaVincenza lives in wonderful Michigan. She has
a love for Skittles, rainbows, Star Wars, *giggles* and Hot Men. She spends
time in her basement with Airicka… Apparently that’s where the best ideas come
from.
Any who….she loves meeting new people, so feel free
to message her on Facebook and friend her on Goodreads!
Although her phone number will not be given out
because, well…she doesn’t like heavy breathing.
So a sort of serious one: For real, I am a geek. I
grew up watching Star Wars, and my father read Lord of the Rings to us, along
with the C. S. Lewis series. I love to write. In all honesty, it took me a lot
of work to get where I am today and I don’t regret a moment of it. Reading and
writing are honestly the best things ever. I couldn’t be happier that my
parents put me through so much extra help. Anyways! Me, me, me…. Huh…I love
paranormal stuff…Love it.

Interview with Becca Vincenza

How did you come up with the concept of having all these supernatural in one story?
Hahaha, that is a good question. I love all paranormal creatures. And I don’t know some of them sort of came to be because it fit the story better. Honestly I just wanted to write about a diverse amount of paranormals and try to find some that I hadn’t seen a lot of.

What is the hardest thing about writing?
Facebook. The devil…But for reals, it’s usually the small things for me. I am pantser or something like that, so I sort of just write as it comes. I do small outlines of points that I want to hit but other than that I just go with the flow. If I am not inspired forcing my hand with no real direction can become a huge problem.

Which character was the most entertaining to write? Why?
Everyone asks me that and the answer is always Elijah. He isn’t even a major character in book one but he is a fun character to write as. He has a strange sense of humor and messes with my sleep schedule but I think that he is one of the hardest but most entertaining character to write as.

If you could be any of your characters, who would you be and why?
This would be a character in book two that you don’t meet until book two. So her, but I don’t want to give too much away, so I would have to say Nixie. Nixie is a really bubbly fun character but she is fiercely loyal and just so much fun.

What do you think is the coolest supernatural being and why?
Ever? There are two that I love beyond love. Well three. Dragon-shifters, Phoenixes, and werewolves. Oh yes I am a werewolf girl. I love dragons they are really cool creatures and I mean so, so, just kickass! I haven’t introduced the phoenixes in my book yet but I really like my “take” on them, but in generals I like them as well. The idea of a bird that is practically made of fire, and can be reborn from their own ashes.Super cool.

How much research took place during the writing process?
For me? Not a whole lot. Since I do introduce crazy, weird paranormals though I did a lot of folklore research in places like Romania. I wanted to do something different, I wanted new types of paranormals as the main focus. Some things I already knew because I love all paranormal stuff, but other legends like I mentioned with the phoenixes I am taking old ideas and twisting them to my own ideas so that is completely me with a bit of already known knowledge.

Which character was the most difficult to write?
I think Stone. This was the first time I had attempted to write in a male’s POV. All the other works I had worked on before, it was always a female lead and always only in her point of view. So writing as a boy was a bit of a challenge, and he was especially difficult. He has convinced himself so thoroughly that he is the worst person – he really isn’t – that he frustrated me sometimes. Elijah is the same way as fun as it is to write as him, it’s damn difficult as he doesn’t feel or think quite the same way as others do.

What sort of message do you think your book sends to the audience?
I hope it sends out a couple of different things: you are never broken, things will get better. Second: there is a lot of elitism with some of the paranormals so I hope it shows that I am trying to show that we are all equal… gets off soap box hahaha.

How many books do you plan to have in your series and can you tell us a little about them?
For you, of course, dear. So as of right now there will be 5 full length novels (including Damaged). And one sort of prequel novella.
Book 1: Damaged is in Audrey and Stone’s POV – must be read first in the series.
Book 2: Healed which is my work in progress – it’s almost finished *woot woot*. This is in Elijah and Valentine’s POv (you Val in the second book)
Book 3: Broken – Nixie and Dallas’ book. (as of right now I am seeing it that either book two or three can be read after Damaged. But Healed must be read before book four).
Book 4: Tamed - Amani and Rex *name might change*. Amani you meet in book two. Rex is new to the series.
Book 5: Burned - Marcus (yes from book one) and Camilla *name might change* This at the moment is the conclusion in the series this is subject to change.
The sort of prequel: Stolen - This book can be read at any time (after its released) I would recommend reading after book one. This is Xavier and Drake’s story (two characters you meet in book one – hence why it should be read after book one) This is a story that begins BEFORE the events in book one, and occur up until the end of book one.

If you could pick actors to play Audrey and Stone, who would you choose?
Pfft that is a good question…. I never really thought about it before. I have “casting shots” but they are models I found XD. Um for actors though…hmm…good question.
Audrey: Emily Browning (the girl from Sucker punch, the Uninvited)
Stone: Kit Harington (Jon Snow)

Author Bio

I am a born and bred wild child. (Or I like to think so anyway!)

I moved to sunny Folkestone to escape and find my feet as, well whatever I was destined to be! But alas, my short attention span made finding that destiny a little difficult! One day I came across a diary entry that made me laugh so hard; I actually fell off my chair. (Yes, this can happen!)
I decided that the entry was so funny; it needed to be shared with the world! So I started writing, and attempted to turn it into a novel. Though to this day, that novel remains unfinished, it will always be the novel that got me started, and showed me what I was passionate about. Honestly? I have aspired to be everything from a Private Investigator to a Zoo Keeper with my career; my interests change so quickly that I could never stick with one! Writing gives me the freedom to choose; I can be a cold-hearted assassin in love with a poet one day and the secret lesbian lover of a politician the next!
All my life, I have had a strong, unwavering passion for anything supernatural, spiritual and slightly unexplainable, I love the idea that there can be something completely fantastical lurking beneath the confines of normality. So of course, mythical creatures of all shapes and sizes dominate most of my work!
In a nutshell, I am a creative crazy bean, living with my lovely husband and a house full of too many animals! I’ve always secretly wished I were a werewolf of some description, but have come to realise that I will have to settle for writing about them instead! I’m happiest in the sun with my head in a good book!

Synopsis:

There are some beings in this world, long thought to be extinct. Some seek to protect them, others want control, but some . . .  some are hell bent on their destruction.

Excerpt:

“I deserved most of these scars. But…” My hand went instinctively to touch the one on my face, but Stone’s hand was already there, touching unflinchingly at the puckering, revolting scars.

“No, you didn’t deserve any of these scars, especially these.” He leaned down and kissed each scar, length for length. I closed my eyes against the sweet attack. While he was holding me earlier, he laid me down now, his body lightly touching mine but never pressing on me. When I opened my eyes, his were a deep purple looking back at me. “You are the most stunning woman I have ever met.” He leaned down and kissed my lips this time. I lifted slightly when it felt like he was going to pull away. My hands moved to his hair. I understood why his hands had always sought out my hair, even when I didn’t think he realized he was doing it. When we were at the cabin, which felt like weeks before, we would be sitting on the deck and his hand would be touching and lightly tugging strands of my hair. I never complained because it placed me into this relaxed feeling. Now I was touching his hair, feeling how it slipped past my fingers, leaving strange tingling feelings I couldn’t stop.

Stone groaned and his body pushed lightly onto mine. His lips left mine, and when I tried to follow, he nudged my head back into place as he moved to kiss my scars again. He touched the damaged part of my lips and I felt his tongue touch every ridge. I shivered violently. I moved my head slightly so that I could kiss him back. He let me this time, allowing me to control the kiss, to take it at my speed. I was nervous, but I touched his lips with my tongue and he opened for me. I practically sighed when the taste of him flooded in. I pulled away first, trying to get air.

“Gods, I don’t ever want to stop kissing you.” Stone’s hand moved from my waist up. I squirmed lightly, feeling uncomfortable memories surfacing. I tried to push them away, reminding myself who I was with.

Spotlight Saturday: Micheline D (Lunar Rainbows)

Micheline of Lunar Rainbows is not just a blogger, she’s a book enthusiast. She has always loved reading but her love of books led her on a new route–that of an aspiring writer. While writing her story, she continued to dive into her book piles, and decided that reviewing what she read was another great way to express herself. Not only is Micheline an aspiring write, book addict, and blogger, she’s also a self-professed geek and Anglophile (Do you see why I heart this chick!?), with a soft spot for those of the feline persuasion. Micheline is just an all around awesome chick and I’m really honored that she joins us today to answer my questions!

What is your favorite genre to read? Hmm... I would have to say any book with fantasy elements are my favorite to read, starting with high-fantasy, historical fantasy, fairy-tales, urban-fantasy. I read adult, young-adult & children stories in fairly equal measure.

What is your biggest pet peeve about writers/books? As an aspiring writer, my pet peeve about writing is how the best ideas always strike in the middle of the night o_O As a reader, I have a hard time with the overuse of 'love-triangles'
as a plot device; unless there is a good reason...and even then, it's always so painful to read - someone always loses and it's too sad dammit! Oh and un-original books that are too heavily based on classics also really annoy me.

What about a book just hooks you in? Wow, good question! I'd have to say it's a combination of things. Having a Main Character I can really relate to and feel for is a big one for me. World-building that's effective and engrossing is another important aspect for me considering how much fantasy I read. There's nothing like experiencing a brilliantly detailed and poetic description of other-worldly settings ♥

Do you have a favorite book boyfriend/girlfriend? I have many honestly but no one has ever overshadowed my first one though: Edward Cullen of the Twilight Saga. That character alone is the single most perfect combination of everything I love starting with the fact that he was born in the early 1900's, he's a tortured soul, he plays piano, he's a vampire, he's got killer hair...and he has metallic eyes (I have this weird thing where if a book boy has metallic eyes, I fall in love.) Oh and to top it off he's played by this beyond dreamy BRITISH guy!! *drool*

Honorable Mentions: Akiva (Daughter of Smoke & Bone Series), Jericho Barrons (Fever Series), Aragorn & Legolas (Lord of the Rings) , Aiden St-Delphi (Covenant Series) - like I could ever stop at just one >.<

What made you decide to start blogging about books? Well, I was (and still am) an avid Goodreads user 5 years prior to and I was reviewing all the books I read during that time. I just LOVE chatting about books and discovering new books by reading other reviews! Not many of my friends are as book-crazy as I am so online was always an ideal place to share thoughts for me. Then my cousin (who has a blog) suggested I should start a book review blog too...and the rest is history!

How many books on average do you read a week? Ugh, recently? I've been in a bit of a reading-rut and I've only been reading a book a week! Gross. Usually, I read around 2-3 books/week so I hope to get back on track soon!

Are you an emotional reader, i.e. do you cry, get angry, laugh out loud, etc? I am an emotional everything LOL so yes I am a complete wreck when I get fully invested in a story. I cry, I freak out when it gets intense, I rant at frustrating characters AND I regularly burst out laughing when I get surprised by a random funny bit :D

Can you remember the first time you read a book on your own? If so which book was it? My earlier memory of reading were Archie Comics haha but as far as a book it was the Anne of Green Gables Series. Whenever I re-read them it takes me back to my childhood - such a classic and endearing story!

Who is your favorite hero/heroine? The hero and namesake of my favorite books of all time - Harry Potter. Honestly, I've never felt more for a character...or connected more with their thoughts and feelings.... *breathes* ...I'll stop gushing now cause I think I could write a book and not cover it. Plus I'm already gushing about the guy often enough on the blog, you'd think the books just came out!

More recently though, my favorite newer heroines would be Vin of the Mistborn series because of her character transformation & courage -AND- Karou of the Daughter of Smoke & Bone series because she is brilliant, complex, fierce & so full of Hope.

What villain do you love to hate? Ahhh, this is always a tough question for me to answer because I don't often feel like I 'love' to hate a villain. Like I don't love to hate Voldemort or Sauron. They freak me out and I want them gone, quick! Eeep! I do enjoy hating Jadis, the White Queen of Narnia. She's scarier in the books but still brilliant in the films and she's pretty badass all around!

If you want to check out some of Micheline’s features (Please read her Doctor Who one, it is awesome!!) head on over to Lunar Rainbows and give her a like on Facebook. You can also find her on Twitter and Goodreads! Thanks again to Micheline for joining us for Spotlight Saturday! xoxo

Spotlight Saturday: Brittni Guillen (Britt Reads Indie)

Today's Spotlight Saturday blogger is Britt of Britt Reads Indie. It's really awesome when bloggers give us indie writers a chance by reading our stuff and Britt's efforts to get our books out there means a lot! Britt is an admitted book addict and a really cool chick! She totally deserves some shoutouts! Here are her two cents about some of her favorite characters, genres, and much more!

What is your favorite genre to read?

B: I really love reading paranormal romance, but I’m open to almost anything, lol.

What is your biggest pet peeve about writers/books?

B: I’d have to say my biggest pet peeve is repetitiveness, sometimes I’ll see the same sentence over and over but just reworded differently, can’t stand it.

What about a book just hooks you in?

B: The flow of the writing, when it all just comes together so smoothly you don’t realize you're at the end until your ereader won’t go any further, lol.

Do you have a favorite book boyfriend/girlfriend?

B: Oh my!! lol I have too many to name without one of them getting jealous ;)

What made you decide to start blogging about books?

B: lol actually one of my friends strongly suggested i started a blog when I wouldn’t quit whining about her knowing all these authors

How many books on average do you read a week?

B: Lately I have been slacking but I can usually get 2 in comfortably

Are you an emotional reader, i.e. do you cry, get angry, laugh out loud, etc?

B: Is there any other way to read?? I say if a book can suck me in to where I am actually talking to the character in it; it's a success, lol.

Can you remember the first time you read a book on your own? If so which book was it?

B: The one book that always sticks in my head from when I was a kid is Dr. Seuss's Are You My Mother.

Who is your favorite hero/heroine?

B: Aaahhh so hard to choose lol Jackson from M. Leighton’s Madly series, Chael from Chael's Luck by Mireille Chester, Nerita from Burning in Water by Arielle Caldwell, Leito from Baptism of Fire by Stephanie Constante lol ...I can go on all day, lol.

What villain do you love to hate?

B: The one that sticks out for me is Brennus from the Premonition Series by Amy Bartol (I think it’s the accent lol)
